Florida CD rates › Rate accuracy
Study date: August 27, 2026 — every comparison verified the same day
On August 27, 2026 we compared the one-year Florida credit-union CD rates listed on BestCashCow's statewide page against what each credit union's own posted rate sheet said that same day. We verify those sheets every morning — it's what this site does — so the comparison took minutes.
Of eight claims we could compare like-for-like, seven were higher than the credit union's own posted rate — by 0.40 to 1.15 percentage points (average 0.70). One, Radiant Credit Union, matched exactly; we report that with equal prominence. The aggregator page displayed the current date (August 27, 2026) at the top. Its own footer states that rates shown “were correct when last reported to us.”

Achieva Credit Union appeared on the aggregator page at 4.20% ($75,000), but we could not make a clean like-for-like term comparison from its posted sheet, so we leave it out rather than guess.
Plan a $25,000 CD around a number that's 0.70 points too high and you're expecting roughly $175 a year that the institution never offered. Worse is the trip: you join a credit union, sit down to open the certificate, and the rate on the paperwork isn't the rate that brought you in.
Most rate sites rely on rates institutions report to them, or on periodic manual checks — so a rate that was true once can keep being displayed long after the institution cuts it, on a page stamped with today's date. It isn't malice; it's a data pipeline without daily verification against the source.
BetterAPY reads each institution's own posted rate sheet every morning and stamps every rate with the date we read it, plus the institution's own effective date where the sheet states one. When an institution doesn't post rates online, we say exactly that instead of showing an old number. The same standard cuts both ways: if you find an error on our board, email jason@betterapy.com and we'll fix it promptly.
Method: aggregator figures were read from its statewide “Credit Union CD Rates — Florida” one-year page on August 27, 2026 (Eastern evening); that page may update at any time. Our figures come from that morning's verification of each credit union's own published rate sheet; each institution's page on this site shows its current verified rates. Comparisons pair the same or nearest posted term and the same minimum-deposit tier.
